Proud Angler
The goal of the South Dakota Proud Angler is to recognize anglers who are fortunate enough to catch a trophy fish. Fish rarely survive long enough to become trophy-sized and these large fish are biologically important in healthy fish populations. Anglers lucky enough to catch a trophy-sized fish are encouraged to consider releasing the fish and applying for a catch-and-release award so more anglers can have the opportunity to hook a trophy.
