GFP Accepting Proposals for Custer State Park Resorts Concession Operator
March 10, 2026PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission approved the release of a request for proposals to operate the resorts located within Custer State Park in the Black Hills of western South Dakota.
The prospectus for the operation of resorts at Custer State Park is available on the GFP website. The prospectus outlines the terms and conditions under which interested operators may submit a proposal for consideration. It also includes a detailed business opportunity and the requirements necessary to submit a proposal.
Required services at the four major resort complexes within Custer State Park include room and cabin lodging, food and beverage services, retail goods, wildlife viewing tours, horseback trail rides, chuckwagon suppers, and other guest services.
Interested firms are required to submit a notification of intent to submit a proposal by 3 p.m. CT/2 p.m. MT on May 8, 2026. The deadline to submit proposals is June 5, 2026.

Custer State Park encompasses 71,000 acres in the Black Hills of South Dakota and is located roughly 25 miles south-southwest of Rapid City on Highway 16A.
