PRESERVATION FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

NEW VISITOR CENTER

  • Expanded displays to include more diverse history
  • Updated exhibits to enhance the visitor's experience
  • Modern classrooms
  • Modern workspace
  • Artifact collections protection with modern climate control
  • Adequate parking for events, including bus parking for tours

RESTORATION OF BUILDINGS

  • Completed restoration in the Commanding Officer's Quarters and Doctor's Residence including: 
    • Inside work on walls, ceilings, and floors
    • Artifact restoration and preservation
    • Outside work such as tuckpointing, roof work, trim work, and landscaping
  • Focus on restoring remaining buildings to certain time period that fits the exhibits and restoration of the building
  • Return North Barracks to original 1860s barracks

ENHANCE OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES

  • Installation of event stafe and campground expansion
  • Development of a playground
  • Expansion of the hiking trails

KEEPING HISTORY ALIVE

  • Events and classes for families, kids, and adults
  • Classes and workshops that not only take place at the fort, but also in other towns
  • Renovations allow for reenactors to give visitors the full experience of stepping back in time
