Operation Outdoors
Time outdoors can help our military veterans heal, connect, and regain confidence. Studies and personal testimonies show just how therapeutic it can be. That’s why South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks created Operation Outdoors, a funding assistance program designed to help veteran organizations host meaningful experiences in South Dakota state parks.
How It Works
Operation Outdoors is a funding program that is supported through public donations. Donations are administered by a committee and made available to eligible veteran organizations through an application process. Approved organizations can use funding assistance to provide outdoor programs and experiences for veterans in South Dakota state parks.
Program Examples
Operation Outdoors funding can help support a variety of outdoor experiences, including:
- Camping and Nature Outings
- Outdoor Skills Expeditions
- Health and Wellness Programs
- Community-building Experiences
- Mental Strength and Resilience Retreats
- State Park Hunting and Fishing Programs
Support Operation Outdoors
Your gift to Operation Outdoors helps provide the resources organizations need to serve veterans in South Dakota state park settings. And those programs provide veterans with opportunities to heal, connect with others, become more resilient, and give attention to their mental and physical health. Every gift matters. Every gift is appreciated.
