August 16, 2023 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. CST

State Park: Outdoor Campus - Sioux Falls

Location: 4500 South Oxbow Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57106

This course is designed to help you take the next step of going into the field and pursuing deer, either alone or with your friends and family. An objective of the Sioux Falls Outdoor Campus is to prepare new hunters to independently pursue the great hunting opportunities South Dakota offers. If you have participated or will be participating in Hunting 101, you have or will have hunted deer or turkeys with a mentor and probably will be or have been successful. This class is a great opportunity for you if you are simply curious about how to be a successful deer hunter on your own whether you have participated in Hunting 101 as well. Successful deer hunting on your own is based on decisions you will need to make at several scales: for example; what county should I apply to hunt in; how do I a pick a piece of public or private land to hunt in that county; how do I find the best spots on that land to harvest a buck or doe; and how to a place a ground blind or tree stand to have the greatest chance of success. This course will give you the benefit of lifetimes of deer hunting so you can confidently take the next steps as a deer hunter.
