Information on fishing access areas for individuals with disabilities, fishing tournaments, the four fish hatcheries across the state and how to request more information can be found below.
GFP has fishing areas with structures or piers allowing access for individuals with disabilities. Accessible fishing piers have been installed in a number of state parks across South Dakota.
- Fish Consumption Advisories
The South Dakota Departments of Health, Environment and Natural Resources along with Game, Fish and Parks cooperate to test fish for metals, pesticides and PCBs. A list of the most current fish consumption advisories for the State of South Dakota can be found here provided by the Department of Health.
- Fishing Tournaments
Apply for a fishing tournament permit or learn more about tournament regulations and upcoming events.
- Hatcheries: Blue Dog, Cleghorn Springs, McNenny and Whitlock Bay Salmon Spawning Station
The system of fish hatcheries steps in to give anglers a boost. Visit one of the hatcheries, online or in person, to see how we partner with nature and compliment natural fish production.
- Kids Fishing Weekend at Lake Sharpe
Each year around the first weekend in June, the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, along with several area sponsors, hosts a fishing event for youth who are first time anglers.
