South Dakota offers a spring and fall turkey hunting season to both residents and nonresidents.
South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks recently revised the Wild Turkey Management Plan in 2016.
The spring season application process opens in mid-January with a middle of February deadline. It includes a prairie firearms season, archery season, Black Hills season, and Custer State Park season that occurs mid-April through late-May.
The fall season application process opens in mid-June with a July deadline. This season covers most of the state, with the exception of Custer State Park where there is no fall season. Fall season dates typically run from fall (November) through winter (January).
You have an opportunity to introduce youth to turkey hunting through the Mentored Hunting Season. Please consider passing along this great tradition to a new generation of hunters.
