HunterSAFE for South Dakota Residents

HunterSAFE for South Dakota Residents

Option 1. In-person, Instructor-led Course

These free courses are offered throughout the year across the state for anyone 11 and older.

In-person courses are led by local Conservation Officers and volunteer instructors who are passionate about not only teaching safe firearm handling and ethical hunting practices, but also sharing South Dakota’s hunting tradition with students.

Find current HuntSAFE in-person class schedule here.

Option 2. Online-only Course

This self-paced course is available to anyone 11 and older. At this time, the in-person field day requirement for students under 16 has been waived. However, we encourage students to participate in an in-person field day to gain valuable hands-on firearm experience.

South Dakota residents can use a promo code to cover the course cost.
