The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks is partnering with the South Dakota Department of Health to put on the Go Forth program. Go Forth aims to get fourth graders and their families outside and active this summer with the overall aim of improving the health of South Dakota youth and families. Students from public, private and tribal schools are eligible and will receive their passes through school.
The Go Forth pass is redeemable for the student’s choice of three state park discounts:
- A free daily license
- Half off one annual park license
- A free 3-year subscription to the Conservation Digest
Students will also receive a coupon for a free 1-hour equipment rental, where available. The Go Forth and rental coupon are redeemable until December 31, 2021.
We encourage students to go forth and create healthy habits, try new activities, and enjoy nature with their families.
Receiving your pass
Passes are typically distributed in March and April, either through the school office or through a classroom visit by GFP staff. Parents of homeschool fourth grade students should contact the state park administrative office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your student’s name and your mailing address so we can determine eligibility. Any South Dakota student who is a fourth grader in the 2020-2021 school year is eligible for the 2021 program.
Redeeming your pass
You can redeem your Go Forth pass at any South Dakota State Park office or staffed entrance booth. To redeem your pass before you arrive at the park, contact our administrative office at email@example.com or call 605.773.3391. Have your child’s pass completed and accessible so you can provide the proper information. Further instructions will follow, but your discounted payment will be taken over the phone and your park entrance license will be mailed.
