The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks is partnering with the South Dakota Department of Health to put on the Go Forth program. Go Forth aims to get fourth graders and their families outside and active this summer with the overall aim of improving the health of South Dakota youth and families. Students from public, private and tribal schools are eligible and will receive their passes through school.
The Go Forth pass is redeemable for the student’s choice of three state park discounts:
1. A free daily license
2. Half off an annual park license
3. A free 3-year subscription to the Conservation Digest
The students will also receive a coupon for a free 1-hour equipment rental, where available. The Go Forth and rental coupon are redeemable until December 31, 2020.
We encourage students to go forth and create healthy habits, try new activities, and enjoy nature with their families.
Receiving your pass
Most passes were distributed before COVID-19 school building closures and others were included in take-home packets. If your child’s school was not able to distribute the passes this year, please contact the state park administrative office at email@example.com. Parents of homeschool fourth grade students can request a pass through the same method. Any South Dakota student who was a fourth grader in the 2019-2020 school year is eligible. Please include your student’s name, their school, and your mailing address so we can determine eligibility.
Redeeming your pass
We encourage you to redeem your pass before you arrive at the park in order to comply with social distancing recommendations and staff limitations. Contact our administrative office at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 605.773.2572 and leave a message. Have your child’s pass accessible and completed. Further instructions will follow, but your discounted payment will be taken over the phone and your park entrance license will be mailed.
