Custer State Park Firewood Permits Extended Through April 1
CUSTER STATE PARK, S.D. -- Officials in Custer State Park have extended the termination date on permits that allow people to remove firewood from the park. The permits were set to expire Friday, Feb. 1, but are now good until April 1, 2013.
It is illegal to remove firewood from Custer State Park without a valid permit. Removing firewood without the proper precautions increases the potential to spread mountain pine beetle larvae to areas currently not in a mountain pine beetle epidemic status.
The next round of permits will become available in September through the Custer State Park office.
