  • Where: Custer State Park, South Dakota
  • When: November 27, 2009
  • Details: This Bighorn Sheep ram was illegally killed in Custer State Park, near Game Lodge campground and Creekside lodge on the afternoon of Friday, November 27, 2009. Only the animal's head and cape were taken, the carcass left to rot. This mature ram was one of only 9 that live in the Park.

    The South Dakota Turn In Poacher's Hotline is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for killing this animal and stealing a public resource from our state.

SD Deer and Antelope Poacheddeer and antelope POACHED

  • Where: Draper Area: Jones County, South Dakota
  • When: 2008-2011
  • Details: The Department of Game, Fish and Parks is requesting your assistance. Over the last few years, over 20 deer and antelope have been found shot near the Draper area in Jones County. Many of these animals are of trophy class, and have been killed during all months of the year. It is expected that similar acts will continue until the subjects are stopped. If you have any information regarding these incidents, please respond.

    In nearly every case the deer, with antlers attached, have been shot and left to rot.

  • When: November 2009
  • Details: 64 uncleaned ducks piled in middle of public road.

SD Deer and Antelope PoachedMoose poached

  • Where: Black Hills
  • When: October 2009
  • Details: Young bull moose found by an elk hunting party northwest of Deerfield Reservoir. Animal had been shot but was still alive and showed signs of a difficult struggle. Moose was laying in grass in open area near road. Evidence suggests that the poacher had ample time to clearly view the target and carefully place a shot.
